மகாத்மா காந்தி, மாமன்னன் சத்ரபதி சிவாஜி போன்றோரின் மத சகிப்புத் தன்மை!

இணைய தளங்களில் பல கருத்துக்கள் வருகின்றன.  நாம் ஒரு பின்னூட்டத்தை படிக்கும் போது அதிலே

என்கிற வாசகத்தை காண நேரிட்டது.  இந்தக்  கருத்து பெரும்பான்மையான இந்திய மக்களின் கருத்தா , பெரும்பான்மையான இந்துக்களின் கருத்தா?

காந்தியின் வழி எப்படி தோல்வி வழியாக கருதப்பட முடியும். கத்தியின்றி , இரத்தமின்றி அஹிம்சை வழியில் போராடி வெற்றி பெற்று இருக்கிறார். இன்று உலகமே அவரது முறையைக் கண்டு அதிசயப் படுகிறது.

உலக அரசியல் சிந்தனையாளர்கள் அவரைக் கண்டு வியக்கின்றனர். மார்ட்டின் லூதர் கிங் ,மண்டேலா ஆகியோர் அவரது வழியை பின்பற்றி  இருக்கின்றனர்.

மேலும் சிவாஜி வழி என்றால் என்ன? சத்ரபதி சிவாஜியின் வழி மத சகிப்புத் தன்மை உடைய , மத நல்லிணக்க வழியே. அவர் எந்த ஒரு கோட்டையை பிடித்தாலும் இடும் முதல் கட்டளை, பிற மத வழிபாட்டு தளங்களுக்கு முழுப் பாது காப்பு கொடுக்க வேண்டும் என்பதுதான்.

இந்துக்களை அச்சுறுத்தி, பலவந்தப் படுத்தி, கட்டாய மதமாற்றம் செய்தல், அடிமைப் படுத்தல் ஆகியவற்றையே சிவாஜி எதிர்த்துப் போராடினாரேயன்றி அவர் மனதில் ஒரு போதும் பிற மதங்களுக்கான வெறுப்புணர்ச்சி இருந்ததே இல்லை.

Shivaji was a devout Hindu and he respected all religions within the region. Shivaji had great respect for other contemporary saints, most notably Tukaram and also holy men of other faiths, such as Sufis.

He is said to have met Samarth Ramdas in 1672 and accepted him as his mentor. Later on he even requested Ramdas to shift his residence to Sajjangadh. .^[25]

Shivaji allowed his subjects freedom of religion and opposed forced conversion.^[8][26] The first thing Shivaji did after a conquest was to promulgate protection of mosques and Muslim tombs.

He commanded the respect and fealty of the Muslims under his command by his fair treatment of his friends as well as enemies.^[8] Kafi Khan, the Mughal historian and Bernier, a French traveler, spoke highly of his religious policy. He also brought back converts like Netaji Palkar and Bajaji back in to Hinduism. He prohibited slavery in his kingdom.^[8] Shivaji Maharaj applied a humane and liberal policy to the women of his state.^[27] There are many instances in folklore which describe Shivaji’s respect for women, irrespective of their religion, nationality, or creed.

Shivaji’s sentiments of inclusivity and tolerance of other religions can be seen in an admonishing letter to Aurangzeb, in which he wrote:’^[27][28][29]

“	Verily, Islam and Hinduism are terms of contrast. They are used by the true Divine Painter for blending the colours and filling in the outlines. If it is a mosque, the call to prayer is chanted in remembrance of Him. If it is a temple, the bells are rung in yearning for Him alone.

காந்தியின் வழி என்பது ஒரு புதிய வழி இல்லை. இந்திய மக்கள் பல்லாயிரம் வருடங்களாக கடை பிடித்த வழியே.

இராமரின்,அரிச்சந்திரரின், அசோகரின், அக்பரின்… வழியே காந்தியின் வழி.

மத சகிப்புத் தன்மை, மத நல்லிணக்கம் ஆகியவற்றை தங்கள் முக்கிய கோட்பாடாக  வைத்ததில் காந்திக்கும், சிவாஜிக்கும் பெரிய வித்தியாசம் இல்லை.
